The Château de Compiègne is a high place of court life and the expression of power. Built by Charles V, all French King until Louis XIV stayed there, attesting to the importance of this place.
The originality and beauty of the largest French neoclassical castle, the quality of its interior decorations, and its furniture constitute a unique ensemble. Alongside Versailles and Fontainebleau, the Château de Compiègne is one of the three most important French royal and imperial residences.
Today, visitors can discover the Royal and Imperial Apartments, the Museum of the Second Empire, the Empress Museum, and the National Car Museum.
