Book Discussion and Analysis - Mal

This is a book reading class. The class will be offered in person and on Zoom.

“Mal”, a fragmented narrative auto-fiction by Louisiana native Chase Cormier. Perroquet, the young protagonist, discovers his place, his identity, his family relationships, while immersed in a rich Louisiana French “cadien”(Cajun) culture from language to cooking, butchering, musical styles and more!

This class will start on April 18, 2025 and will end on June 6, 2025

(Due to Memorial Day, there will be no class on Friday May 30).

An event with the author will be offered to the Alliance Française de Cincinnati members and students after the mini session.

Chase Cormier holds a PhD in Francophone Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he also served as editor of Feux Follets, an in-house review of creative writing and visual art from 2018 to 2023. His research examines literary trends in Francophone North America, with a particular interest in Louisiana French literature and food. He is the founder and host of Louisiane en vers, a bilingual podcast that explores current poetic trends in Louisiana .
